Event 8 afteraction
Thank you to all that helped out and stepped up to make this event go smoothly. We got 7 runs and done earlier than the last 2 BMS events. Thanks again for the hard work folks. JY

Re: Event 8 afteraction
Can we get something at the next Bristol event that I'm not on the rev limiter for half the course?
I think it used to be called a "miata" course.
MMMM K,
Thanks

I was on limiter for probably 20-25 seconds of a 49 second run. 59MPH in that BMW I was driving. I tried going to 3rd on 3 different tries, but ended up in 5th gear. It sucks because the problem is that if you do go to 3rd, you lose any weight transfer from engine braking. Even worse, you have to figure out where to get back into 2nd.
So, shifting to 3rd on the way out was a no-go because you needed 2nd for the slalom and it's just not possible to get back down into 2nd gear there.
After the Bristol Carousel in the back, I do think 3rd would have been good because I could get back into 2nd in the showcase, but again, couldn't find 3rd. I also don't know what kind of speed I would have seen if I did get to 3rd
The video should be hilarious.

Going out Berry hit 72 for a snap of the finger b4 having to slow and coming back in the middle he hit 67 for the same split second.

Re: Event 8 afteraction
Corey rode the limiter in 3rd, but it probably wasn't worth going to 4th. I was blown away that Cameron grabbed 3rd after the first slalom and left it there until the finish turn around.
I rode 2nd. The start turn was pinchy enough that I was far enough out of the powerband that I only got a couple limiter hits going out. I rode it coming back because I didn't think I had enough grip/engine braking to pull 3rd and feared spinning across the course.

I loved the course, it was tight in places and fast in others, flowed well. I thought it was a welcome relief from the tight and pinchy courses we are forced to have at smokies. I feel your pain though; typically at smokies Ariel and I don't even get to shift to 2nd..
