It would probably wind up being almost all subies in it if scca did make it as a class, which they were not inclined to do as of last year. The meeting coming up in Topeka soon, I am sure it will be brought back up but doubt they will consider it again for 2020.

My impression at nats was that it was going to happen. We just won't have the details for a few months.

Will heavily depend on weight rules. Id expect a lot of the same players as SM, SSM, A/BSP to be competitive. But yes it sounds like open import class is on the way.

I can't imagine building a car for it. Something tells me the spending war will be more violent than CAM and theres no real finish line.

With a building war with SM cars and others that would make that class the cars would break more often than SM, SSM, CP all together and slow down the national event which is why the class probably won't go over on the national level as that is the reason it isn't already here.

I can't conceive why you think putting street tires on car would make it exponentially less reliable.

335 or 315 street tires of what they say is 200 tw is a joke as my car broke with bfg's on it and no way anyone can say oh they won't break with street tires. The only way no breakage is with 2400 pounds or some really light weight not saying 2400 pounds is the magic number on when things start to break or not but yeah I guarantee more breakage if it becomes a class with any weight of 3000 pounds or so.

Edit: Look at panda and how many times it breaks

I think you look at STU as a decent idea of what a typical build would be aside from power adders. They are not egregiously unreliable.

Bleeding edge SP cars can be prone to breakage but saying that's a tire thing is the oddest thing I've ever heard. If anything it would be engine and driveline issues, I think.

But not creating a class because it could possibly delay the event? Never heard that. I mean, they run Jr. Karts at nats.

You said these cars would break more than SM/SSM.

I don't see how taking away grip and potentially detuning these cars isn't going to be easier on axles/bearings/transmissions/diffs/engines/etc.

...and if min weight is 3000 lbs, they won't break because hardly anything will fit in the class.

Its simple physics, any time you start to lighten cars/parts and testing the strength of a part that isn't suppose to be lightened, you get breakage no matter what the tire...think lambobunny and adding power adds stress to the suspension cause more load due to higher speeds which will equal breakage. Time will tell if it gets approved and money gets spent on lighter parts or stock parts get lightened and maybe it doesn't break, but maybe it causes the last two run groups to only get 2 runs due to darkness due to a lot of breakage......

I don't understand why you think this would be more of an issue than in SM/SSM. Especially since you anticipate heavier min weights.

Not necessarily more than what already happens in SM, SSM which hasn't been bad as it once was and CP but yeah it would be more breakage than all 3 combined, look at the ruleset, there are hardly any rules and I am surprised there is not more breakage in cam and with hardly any rules in CUAM, your gonna get breakage, why would you want to build a car for it and not push the envelope to make it as fast and light as you could within the min weight limit?

I'm sorry. But other than one engine failure this year at Nationals.....which happened to be a 12 year old engine.....when did SM/SSM/SMF,/S1 slow down any event in 2019?

I ran 15 National events and 6 locals this year and I don't remember it.

And if they build C.U.M. its gonna be a blood bath. Several existing FAST SM/SSM builders / drivers are committed to embarrassing all who show up.
