June 7th Event 2

Post by jcox07 »

Thank you out to all that helped make this event a great one with what I think was the most entries at a local that we have had in a long time and as hot as it was that made it more critical to keep the event flowing and I think we did that very well. Everyone got 5 runs and packed up and left by 4:30 which was awesome. Thanks again to everyone. JY

I hope most approved of the different layout.. from the mix of cars in top pax %.. it seemed to liken to all different car platforms.
(lil too tite in places for my long legged car)

Lots of new folks there. And good to see some oldies back out!! :)

Yeah. It was tough to get the speed and momentum (maybe bumps more than course design) where I think my car shines in STX trim, but I appreciate the different layout.

I only felt 2 bumps.. the right down hill after the first salom.. and the first cone of the middle salom.. but if you hit it just right.. it lifted the car and sat it down perfectly for the next cone.. lol

Yep, really liked seeing something different even though I think my profanities from the 2nd and 3rd runs are probably still echoing through the valley.

Those were the 2 places that I really thought the car would kill, but I couldn't put any power down on the downhill run, then had to pedal the middle section, which I think I could have done flat if not for the bump.

Agreed with what Jeff said. I was a bit worried about all the logistics but I think it all worked out well.

I appreciate the different spin (no pun intended) on the course. I'm glad we are trying new stuff. It wasn't necessarily my favorite course but it was still fun. The bumps on the downhill run were pretty tough on my car, even with stock springs. Most of the time I waited until I was on the flat section to really get on the gas but I tried getting on it earlier on my last run and about spun it. If the bumps weren't there, I think that would have been a roller coaster ride. :-) I found the middle-back section particularly fun once I got the visuals down. I kept picking out the wrong cone on the off camber left hander before the finish which messed me up on several runs.

It was great seeing everyone and looked like the event went as well as it could with the #s you had and the heat. I decided that spectating at the event was not as fun as it looks on paper.
I walked the course 1 time and it was nice to see something different there. BUT... since I haven't made that many events, for all I know i just happen to come to the ones where they feel similar.
Great job to all that put the event on and kept it running smooth.

It was quite hard to watch as an outside person and I'll be honest... to watch my old car out there. Was good to catch up with everyone and see what they had done in the down time and so on.
Not sure what my immediate future holds, but maybe I'll be back out at a local hopping in a car here and there. I WILL be at the Bristol Tour in a few weeks in SSR though, so that will be fun.

Is that the most entries with times that we've ever had? I know we've been close a few times. I remember one at Adesa with something like 117 or 119.

I don't even remember a divisional there.

I think the couple times we opened our season there, people came from all over. I think we had a couple of 100+ people events at Pelli and ORM, but I really can't think of anything that topped 122 yesterday.

I think we had some events at Bristol in the 120-130 range a LONG time ago. Definitely the largest in a while. I dare say we could have approached 140 without the cap.

We had 127 in 2016 at pelli and that was the largest number since 2000 as I went back and looked at each event to see what the biggest turnout was and pelli wins.
