Speaking for someone that has one with just under 90k miles, they typically need a chunk of maintenance at that age. Also, low mile cars don't necessarily get you off the hook either. IMO, they are all a crap shoot since they are all roughly 20 years old. Stuff ages even at low miles. I know people that had torque tube issues on 20k mile cars since stuff got old. IMO, find a car that has been well maintained regardless of miles or buy one cheap and plan on working on it. In a few years, I might have all the drivetrain redone on mine.

Examples of maintenance stuff on my car (doesn't include performance upgrades)...

Things I have done:
AC compressor / condenser
Front hubs
Harmonic balancer
Spring adjusters on front suspension
Valve springs
Timing chain / oil pump

Things that need attention but not a crisis yet:
Transaxle and differential rebuild
Everything in the torque tube replaced
Everything related to the clutch replaced
Window regulators (they seem to be wear items)
Rear hubs

I'm sure I am forgetting some stuff. Don't let all that stuff scare you. I wouldn't trade mine for anything else.

Rats, that one in GA sold yesterday. Oh well, no hurry for me. I need to do some work on the FR-S and truck before I can sell them anyway and I have no more room with five cars here already.

Mark, I'll be looking to sit in your car this weekend...

Mine had 115k on it and I hadn't done the springs yet ( but had bought them ) and it sounded like it needed the balancer done ( i'm guessing on that one ). @ 108K I did the rear main seal, the diff rebuild, torque tube rebuild with new bushings, clutch w/master and slave done with remote bleeder, oil pressure sensor. That was on top of the trans fix that ended up a replacement.

I'll add... that other than that huge 1 time deal, I had done NOTHING to the car except brakes and fluids. Running in SSR with the big front sticky tires it needed hubs ever few years...lol

For a daily driver, I'd probably be in the Mustang camp. Newer, back seat, plenty fast, plenty capable.

...if I wasn't allowed to have an M3.

Don't get me wrong, I love my E92 M3. However parts mark up on those things is ridiculous especially compared to the Mustang. If mine wasn't a "poverty pack" model and didn't have the CF roof (laugh all you want) I would have gone the Mustang route myself.

If you the V8 M3 route, don't forget the throttle actuators too in addition to the rod bearings.

Hmm.. Do I need a tow vehicle with more electrical issues than an old H2O VW? :? is that why I want one?

Scott, you are welcome to drive my 2016 GT. It's not CAM setup, but has pretty much all I can do and stay in FS. I wouldn't recommend pre-2015 GT since it is a solid rear axle.

It's going to be a bit while I figure out the tire situation for both daily and autox. Will need a hitch and trailer, too.

Scott - Talk to Trae Larkin - He's been trailering my old car so he MIGHT not want/need the tire trailer and hitch that came with the car.
