Classing

So I have always thought, incorrectly, that if you have a car that's in a stock class (RX-7 non-turbo ES) then you do something to it to make it move up a class it would be ESP. But, that's not right, right?

So, you find your newly fixed up RX-7 on the Street Prepared list (RX-7 non-turbo CSP) and that's your new class, right?

Correct. The rulebook is a free download on the SCCA website and all the information is in there.

I just assumed in the rule book you find your car HS, ES, FS, whatever it is then if you have some non-stock stuff you add SP to it

It's a common misperception. The issue is that when you get into higher prep levels there tends to be more parity between the cars so there are fewer classes.
