Classing

Post by IsaacMTSU »

So I have always thought, incorrectly, that if you have a car that's in a stock class (RX-7 non-turbo ES) then you do something to it to make it move up a class it would be ESP. But, that's not right, right? So, you find your newly fixed up RX-7 on the Street Prepared list (RX-7 non-turbo CSP) and that's your new class, right?

Correct. The rulebook is a free download on the SCCA website and all the information is in there.

I just assumed in the rule book you find your car HS, ES, FS, whatever it is then if you have some non-stock stuff you add SP to it  Now I know, thanks!

It's a common misperception. The issue is that when you get into higher prep levels there tends to be more parity between the cars so there are fewer classes.

it sounds strange to use the phrase ... "fewer classes ... and SCCA" in the same sentence

Yep, throw some mods on it and they'll throw you in the shark tank with the Miatas! Whatever you do, don't turbo swap it :o
