I do. I'll book something tonight, because when I checked yesterday, there weren't that many rooms available and even less that allowed cancellation.

Word around Peru last weekend didn't sound great......if Wilmington is a no-go, it will be moved to Peru. They are to know something next week..........

I'm in touch with Dave Santel (RE for that region) on facebook and other places.

This event is a go. His region's board simply has to approve the budget for the event which is nearly a sure thing. All the hard parts (FAA) are done.

Actually yes, VERY good momentum. Whereas I was honest with everyone about the Match tour and said, "eh, i'm not sure, be careful with non-refundable hotels", I think the champ tour is 90% certain.

Right now, the airport is totally on board, as is the FAA. We have cost figures from the airport that may vary, but I submitted those to Howard as of this afternoon and he was cool with my "worst case scenario" numbers. I just have to get our BoD to approve my regional budget and we'll be game on. That will be official as of Tuesday night, but go ahead and register tomorrow. We're sitting pretty.

You might hold off till Wednesday for a non-refundable hotel, but I'm about as confident as I'm going to get without a contract in my hand.

Also, the weekend before the Champ Tour will be two single-day regional events for us, again, assuming my budget gets approved. So if you're wait-listed for Toledo, please consider helping us make the first ever event on the pad be a big success!

Born and raised in Columbus,Powell Speedway was where the AX action was when my dad worked at Mid Vo. late 60 into 70 years.He co drove a 68 bug,dual port Webbers all the right stuff with co worker Peter Smith. Pete went on to building his own VW/porche powered cars and kept racing solo and club racing.Peter did win his class a few years at the run offs at Mid Ohio.I wanted a kart but did not happen.Ended up on dirt bikes a few years and at National Trails DW in one of the first sport compacts. It was Toyota Carina 1600 hemi,webbers,Sig cam,ect. 14.20 back then was fast 1/4 mile. I asked only if some of my past could be traced to an old timer,nothing more. I love to have fun with our sport. thanks Bob Colbert.
