STR suspension ?

Post by jpvette »

I've been reading the rules for STR and it says you can change the springs and perches. The question is are coilovers allowed? New owner of a 2006 s2000 by the way. I'm not sure if I will go BS or STR, leaning toward STR. The car is bone stock now. Thanks for the input!

Yes, shocks are legal. Run STR much more competition.

It has a factory coil over shock design, so yes, aftermarket coilovers are legal for the S2000.

Thanks for the clarification. Also need a recommended tire size for a front stock rim/ and aftermarket wheel and tire size front and rear.

17x9 wheel with 255 tire front/rear seems to be standard on the s2ks. I think it's up in the air which tire is the fastest on the s2k in STR trim though, lol.

Don't buy tires for the stock wheel.

The best way to go is the tire track trmotorsport c3. I would recommend going 255 Hankooks.

What are you looking to accomplish?

The plan is a dedicated autocross car.Wheels and tires combined are cheaper than tires alone for the vette, that's nice.I registered for STR at Bristol since that seem's to be the most competition.Do the 255's on the front have any clearance issues?

I think you have to roll the fenders, but nothing crazy. with some heat the paint won't crack or anything like that.

If you are running stock suspension then no need to roll just yet. Once you lower it then a front fender roll is needed.
