Autocrosses @ night - SCCA Rules?

Hey guys..

I think it was brought up here before about doing a night event and that it was shot down... am I right?

If so... was it a lot issue or was it SCCA national office?

done 1 night event. suckD. Id rather do a day/rain event.. speeds are about the same.

Ok, I wasn't sure if there was SCCA rules against it due to visibility concerns. A local region ( not mine ) has some coming up and was curious about it.

I can't see it being 'fun' other than it being different.

I think there were issues with the lot as well. I don't think PSTCC wanted us there at night, and there were concerns about noise and the surrounding neighbors from a night event.

I did one. Couldn't look ahead at all. It was more fun than not autocrossing, but less fun than autocrossing during the day.

hey give me an entry fee I'll post up a dark parking lot. Ya'll provide the gen set for the lights and you will not be happy at night.Shadows will f your mind. Not like running from cops on regular roads.

I think they have a night event in Asheville at their mall lot.

it's not at the mall lot (we lost that several yrs ago) … it's at the Ag. Center (across from the airport) … wed nights, same course all yr, new course the next yr .. started life as a test-n-tune, that morffed into a series

IIRC, CCR has a night series. The name Metrolina comes to mind.
