EVENT IS GO! Test&Tune - Sat April 19th - Pellissippi State

Post by thrdeye »

Hey everyone. Lots of people seemed to be disappointed that we weren't able to get an event in during April. Schedules and such still prevent us from having an official event, but we are going to try to arrange a test and tune so that the addicts can get the hit they need.

Here are some details and stipulations about how this will work.

Normal Event Pricing: $25 Members/$40 Weekend Members

Limited to 40 Drivers. MUST HAVE a commitment of 25 drivers to make the event worth having. If it starts to look like 25 won't happen, we'll have to cancel.

This will be a "fair weather only" event. There's not much point in trying to test or tune anything specifically for rain events on the PSCC surface, and rain would kill participation. So, if I wake up that morning and it's raining, we'll cancel the event and I'll send an email to all participants by 7AM.

We will run for four hours. We can run longer if people feel like it, but you should have plenty of runs and seat time. The course will also be basic enough that you may not even need to walk it. The idea of a test and tune is to practice common elements, so it will be a basic course that will allow you to try to focus on repeatable results.

You only have to chase cones for one hour of that 4, so the rest you can be running or fiddling with your car. We won't be recording times, but we will have the display setup so you can see your time.

Last chance for a lemons shakedown, I'd say a big chunk of our crew will be on-board for this event.

Interested, especially if Kieran could come out, too. I could work Safety if I come out.

Isaac, you need some giant Hoosiers under that truck. I know where you can get some.

What is the deadline to sign up for this?

Put the same course that was at the Ball Park down and they will learn. But with the two lots we use could be more. Would be cool if some of the same thing, based on what Harp said. Last time we had one of these test and tune we did not make $$$$ per Scott, and JB laid down the course and I chaired. Just sayen. Fair weather and like what Harp said. Give it a go!! P.S. basic elements is what seems to go slow but makes faster run times.

I love those. You need to get in to rear wheel drive, then they are drift circles.

Sanction should not be a problem at this point. There will be a lefty sweeper and a righty sweeper. None of that traction circle crap. It's good for learning how to manage distance from the cones, but they're just awful and I really think there are more fun ways to go about learning and practicing distance maintenance.

We've got 22 registered, so as long as the weather is solid, I would expect this event to be a go.
