TIRES
Iv'e been out of the loop on this issue, to much stuff with the buy out going on. Is there any news on the tire front for next season? A group buy for better cost or some thing going on? just asking and thanks for your reply.

Re: TIRES
Speaking of tires....I planned my tire set-up late in the season for 2015 just before my trip to National Corvette Museum inaugural autocross event not knowing what the set-up would be like I took 5th out of 14 cars in class....I don't know if Tire Rack made a big mistake on the price because I bought 4 Hankook RS3 V2 for the Camaro at $137 each. These tires sell for $295 to $330 each now? I used the set-up (adding some front camber) at Jetport and Pelli's last events. My times were much better with them. I'm now running under a half second behind 1st place times in class. To compare I used my PAX/RTP times against cars like Jim's Cobra and beat him for the first time all year in PAX. Since then I bought 2 more (at the higher price) so I'll have some extras for 2015.....I still have a sway bar option if I need to get me where I want to be....can't wait March 1st.

Re: TIRES
The new batches of R1Rs are now stamped as 200tw. So nothing will change in STS.

Re: TIRES
maybe locally … but at a national event you'd have to have tires that were stamped 200 to be legal, even if the compound, tread, and the construction was exactly the same
I think that was decided last yr when Hankook (or someone) started re-stamping their 140 TW tires as 200 TW
and as far as ETR is concerned, all I've heard is that STM will be allowed to run 140's this coming yr, not STS/STC/STF …

Re: TIRES
I realize that … but the ones I have say 140 on the sidewall… to the best of my knowledge, they're not legal in '15 … only the ones that are stamped 200 TW are legal
actually I should say … that is my understanding of the rules

Re: TIRES
Yup. Whether there is actually any difference between the construction of the 140 v the 200 tw tires is yet to be determined.integra55 wrote:I realize that … but the ones I have say 140 on the sidewall… to the best of my knowledge, they're not legal in '15 … only the ones that are stamped 200 TW are legal

Re: TIRES
That would be my understanding too. I don't think they're changing the molded in TW rating on tires already manufactured. The should have new or modified molds that include the 200 TW. I should say, on the tires I have the TW rating isn't stamped, It's in the mold.integra55 wrote:I realize that … but the ones I have say 140 on the sidewall… to the best of my knowledge, they're not legal in '15 … only the ones that are stamped 200 TW are legal

Re: TIRES
Well if 200 is gonna be what we run in 2015 then we can not start off with last years 140 tires. But on a side note when will we be able to buy the new ones? I might want to hang onto the best ones for right now. Any comment from J B ?

Re: TIRES
on the interwebz … Toyo's are claimed to be available early Jan.
RS-3's (in 225/15) … who knows … 205's seem to be available now …
Rival's … (new compound/design) … who knows
Dunlop's seem to be available now …
I was under the impression that 140's were only "allowable" in STM for '15

Re: TIRES
