CRSCCA Points Event #2 4/19/15

Post by jcford80 »

I hate that I'm going to be missing the SEDiv events but if you don't get your fill this weekend, come on down to Cleveland and race with us!

Event at the Jetport site. The surface is getting better each time!

Majors at VIR. There are only so many weekends in the year and the Majors tend to be run as early as possible. There's another one at Summit Point the first weekend in May.

Might be a dumb question, but do all SCCA members get the $15 discount or just the local CR guys? Not a big deal, just curious.

Ugh.... just got the email about the jet port....

Can't say I'm surprised, as this happens at small strips, especially if they are getting any federal Grant money.

It wasn’t that long ago that I had to announce that our events at Eastgate had been canceled. Now I regretfully have to make the same announcement about our events at the Jet Port.

Yesterday we were notified by the Jet Port, that the FAA had contacted the Jet Port concerning our events. Apparently it is the opinion of the FAA that the Jet Port is to be used exclusively for Aircraft and Air Transportation.

We have a thread for the lot search here: http://www.crscca.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=665

We are actively looking at places we have run in the past, except Eastgate. As sson as we have something concrete we will let you know.

Thanks,

Sucks. I hated the surface, but I really liked the facilities.

I wasn't a fan of the surface that first event, but felt it would season in after a while

That sucks. It was a great site that just needed some breaking in.

How is this any different to the FAA from Wilmington or Lincoln? Seemed like the owners liked us there. Maybe someone at national could help?

The biggest difference is where we run in the lots. Toledo, Wilmington etc all have "down" areas that we're using. The smaller regional and county airports that really have to extra space have to have that active area clear of any noon aviation related activity.
We had a small strip back home that had to turn it's beacon off ands notify the local towers that we were there for emergency use only.
Actually had life flight statoinned there and we suit down when they needed to take off.
But this guy took no feed money from what we heard.

I wasn't surprised either...I liked the fact I got more seat time per season the ride was not that far. It was better then East Gate and the facilities were very nice. I had been watching their forum this season not much activity on the event stuff. I even posted about what seemed like the lack of interest in getting people to attend. It was 9 days out from their 2nd event with a dozen people signed up...not good. They needed 75 at each event just to break even. They had been getting 40 or 50 entries...I knew something was up. I guess we just might get some extra entries at our events until they find another playground.
