They have talked for years about not doing that article anymore. The membership still wants it. The last couple of years show what they think about actually doing it.

I remember many years ago when the one time I got mentioned. I can't remember if it was before or after the event. It was either I will "compete" or "I competed". Dunno if I should be happy my name was mention or mad. I think I was a little mad considering I still remember it. lol

Good Luck to everyone that is going!

I think this is John's best chance since he ran the class.

Iv been to Nationals / Pro Finales 10 times.. been a 2 time National Pro winner and 3 second place finishes at the Solo Nats,.. and a number of everything else, down to 17th in my first STS run.
I was favored in one Pro, and barely a contender in the other. The National Solo 2nd place runs were always bitter sweet.. one more bitter than the other! lol ( RIP Chris)

But the point is... and Ill bet Robert can attest.. even when your the MAN to beat.. its 50 % talent , and 51 % LUCK of everything going your way. That's a lot of footage to travel as fast as you can possibly go, and not make more than the slightest of mistakes... 6 times.
But, I wish the best of luck to all that's making the TREK.. and Ill be pushing as hard as I can go!!

I'm "guardedly optimistic" this year. CS is an incredibly deep class. I think we have nearly 70 registered as well. John, you're totally right. You have to be on point, but the stars have to align. Best I've ever done was 5th at nationals, one out of the trophies in a 12 person supplemental class. But my second Nats went much better than my first (36th in STU or something like that).

I have no delusions of winning, of course, but to be in the top 15% of that CS field would be a good accomplishement for me given the drastic change in my equipment this year. Torque and AWD to no torque and RWD is a big learning curve.

But anyway, I'm not thinking about results. I'm thinking about execution. Been watching film, working on the car, working on fixing some things in my driving (that has been painful, btw). Maybe something will happen. Who knows.

This will be my second national event and I hope to be in the trophies this year. After just the brief run at the 2nd wilmington pro and talking with Tom, Pilson and I have the car to win it all and the rest will be left up to the drivers. I finished 17th last year out of 35 ish or so. I will have a blast win lose or draw, it is just a great time racing with my fellow ETRers and then relaxing to a good home cooked meal. By the way to all ETRers going we need to plan the menu for this years nationals and pitch in some money to buy everything. I am thinking Pork tenderloin with taters and grean beans for one night and Filet mignon for another and chiken and red taters and beans and burgers and dogs for lunch. Any one wanting to eat with us needs to let me know and pay up so I know how much to buy and it will be left up to each person to bring beverage for themselves. See everyone this Sunday for our local.

We'll get our own meats for grilling to save you the hassle and embarrassment of buying hippie-food.

Wish we could go to nationals this year but Bronwyn has to finish cooking the 2031 novice winner. :-)
Wilmington tour will be our big show for the year. Will be my 5 tour and hopefully the first I trophy in. Will be Bronwyns 3rd but she already has a shirt.
Will definitely be glued to sololive keeping up all the ETR bunch in Lincoln!
