Classing Clarification (Modified E30)

Post by tauntaun »

Hi all,

I have a friend coming out to this next event and wanted to double-check the classing. From my reading of the rules, I landed on STX. See what you think.

1990 BMW 325i - stock M20 I6 and 5 speed manual
* Bavauto Sport Springs
* Bilstein shocks
* 3.73 LSD from 325is

From my reading, changing springs automatically bumps him into Street Touring from GS. And as far as I can tell, the LSD is okay for STX as well: "2WD vehicles may use any mechanical LSD unit" as stated in 14.10 Section K.

What do you all think? If not STX I was thinking STM for this event, being his first he won't be competitive anyway so PAX doesn't really matter.

Should be ok, but technically, you can't change the rear end ratio in ST. I don't know BMW stuff so maybe it's the same ratio.

Afaik all the 5 speed m20b25s came with the 3.73 ratio, so it sounds like STX is fine.

STM in an e30 will take a good bit of development to compete, especially this season. We're a friendly bunch, though.
