Miata People Help ASAP

Post by Gen52SS »

2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata Grand Touring 83,000 miles Premium package $8,900 is this a good deal? I know nothing about these other then they are fun. What should I look for possible if buying?

You have a couple more grand to put toward one? I know where a decent NC is with some starter STR bits.

If you are interested in a competitive Street class autocrosser, there are better choices.

Chris....Steve..this is for both the wife and me it's loaded with the bells and whistles leather Bose system etc. Just to have fun at autocross and something she can drive. I have the cash but looking to finance it. I really don't know much about Miata's 83,000 seems like nothing for them? I'm going this afternoon to test drive it. Does the price seem okay for that car in good condition?

Gotcha. I haven't shopped them at all, but it doesn't seem too out of line if it checks out.

Unless it is an absolute cherry, I'd shoot for $7000 and consider $7500 a good deal, and $8000 a fair deal (if it is AWESOME).

$8,900 books out as "EXCELLENT" condition. Unless it is new, it ain't "EXCELLENT"

Sounds like you may be dealing with a dealer or an unreasonable seller.

Unless the car has been mistreated, there shouldn't be much. They are simple creatures with reliable drivetrains. I don't know about the automatics though.

Top condition would be the main thing I'd look over closely though.

Yeah $9k is on the high side for a stock 06 with 83k miles. Granted, that mileage is not much to a NC.

One thing about miatas, they've literally made a million plus, which means there will always be another and potentially better deal out there for one.

The car on the outside was like a 10 year old car that was not well kept nothing real big. The inside power windows sounded like sand was in channels made a nasty noise up and down. The top was fair, leather interior was below average worn and the car was not detailed at all it was a what you see is what you get. Carpet worn, windshield had some fogging issues. Engine compartment had oil all over could not tell where it was coming from. Road test trans felt good tap shifter worked fine and engine sounded okay. The car had a bad shake in the front end NOT TIRES and some clunking on hard turns...that's pretty much the story.
