RallyX Facebook Page

Post by thrdeye »

Whoever made this - it should have been created as a facebook page (to allow for advertising if needed) or a facebook group, not as a personal account. Suggest killing the page and starting over. Probably should have also had board approval or at least some buy in from Paul B.

We talked a little bit about this at the meeting last night. He did ask for approval.
Think Sean put it up. I have not had a chance to look at it. I'll work with him and get this fixed. I did not know it would be a personal account. I think he might be changing it to a FB group

Cool. Then it just needs to be changed so that Facebook sees it as a page and not a person.

Changing it to a group was discussed last night. We seem to get a lot of folks coming out to Rallycross from FB and the forum here is kinda dead to rallyX traffic . RallyX committee is wanting to promote the next events more to see if more folks will come out to play. To get the ball rolling on that, Sean sarted the page. He has much better FB Foo than others in the RX committee. He knew from the get go it was to be a reflection of ETR.

Not trying to pick nits, just trying to help. A page or a group can have shared admin roles so that it doesn't all come down to one person.

I believe Mark suggested it be a Facebook page or Group not a private account. Did he already make the changes all I can find is Rally Cross ETR page. I think it's set up like that so you can have different administrative people not just one person....I'm not a FB guru by any stretch so I could be wrong. Did setting up events work at all? We could also use the email blast to get the word out. It can also be promoted in the region like I do with SOLO events but that puts more work for me to do. I'm dedicated to the club so I don't mind doing it to help out.

Sean is going to get it set up as a group. We have access to everything he has set up. He knows we don't want a repeat of what happened before.

I got a friend request from this page - https://www.facebook.com/rally.etr?fref=jewel

Basically, it was setup as a person not a page or group. You don't get friend requests from pages or groups and Rally X wasn't born on Jan 15 1967 :D

I'd suggest killing it before too many people accept the friend request.

He set that up as a starting point, along with an email address. We have the passwords for it snd he will be setting up the group.

Sorry Sean, "not it" anymore on the timing front. Brian Robbins and some of his guys might be able to help. I trained the RX crew a couple of years ago when it was just starting up and unfortunately it looks like that knowledge wasn't transferred.
