Sorry ALL... I had this link set up to notify me when someone posts on it and it did for the first two and then stopped, so I figured that no one was posting. I am so sorry I have not been here to answer your questions. Thanks Ted for pickin up the slack...

Richard - please update my entry [if you can], my entry, #44, will be a 1996 Dodge Avenger, stock front wheel drive
the co-driver, #144, will be Sean McDonald

we do get a handicap for having 300K miles on the odometer, right

Hi, everybody. Has anyone seen the course yet? Any idea what to expect in terms of mud/rocks, potholes/ruts, water/tree hazards?

I may have to come out, spin some Sube tires, and feed the mud hunger :eating:

Its the camping field on top of the hill at the redneck playground. If its wet, its clay-loam mud. If its dry it will make tires squeal. The course when made should be OK for stock class cars so folks don't have to worry too much about bent oil pans and broken suspension. At least in theory . There are rules like in autocross for course setup so you don't have to worry too much about trees, etc.

Imagine autocross courses in a field.

That didn't take long :) There's an open seat for you if I can make it out, but I'll let you know early next week if that is the case. Good chance I can and will. I've got a pretty long cave trip planned for Saturday in Cumberland Gap, and I've just gotta make sure it won't last until Sunday. It will be a muddy weekend either way :D

I'm excited to be coming to the Redneck Resort. The course will be car friendly. That doesn't mean that it'll be smooth as a highway. Expect bumps and dip though. Don't expect any jumps - they're not allowed. Similar/same rules as Solo regarding vertical objects. So no, we won't be flicking our cars around trees and cutting corners over 10' deep ditches.

I want to drive my car home just like you do. Every effort will be made to set up the course to mimize any impacts to your car.

With all that said, if you have a fragile lower front fascia, you should remove it or expect it to become damaged.

I see a Miata is signed up. Your car needs to have the factory hardtop installed. That applies to any convertible.

Pump your tire pressures up to at least 40# unless you're running rally tires. Debeads can still happen but they appear to be less likely at higher pressures. I don't fool around with tire pressures on my car. I make sure they exceed 40# and leave it at that. For me it's not worth the risk of debeading for any advantage (if any).

Make sure your battery is securely fastened. Straps and bungee cords do not normally meet this requirement. Plan ahead and get this done.

We're not going to cross in shallow creeks or anything like the that. Any water that we may experience would be that falling from the sky. That'll be site dependent on how that works out.
