I would love to do this but unfortunately don't have a car for it. If someone would be willing to part with a codrive I'd pay their entry fee

Ted,
I'm at work and can't access the rule book.....
Does a soft top Miata require a roll bar?

I just happened to have picked up one for fun a couple days ago.

Needed a top and some body panels...... Beverly Hillbilly'ed it back from Bristol - (where I found some CHEAP craigslist parts) on it's initial shake down run after buying it.

I'll probably add a "show bar" or something cheap, but doubt I'll go all out.
Then I saw this while parts shopping.......
A 3" lift (shock relocation brackets) for about $150. Fit 26" tires pretty easily. Hmmmm.......

A soft top Miata requires a hard top. So... If you can find a factory hard top to snap on it, you should be good to go.

To be clear, convertibles require factory hard tops with factory glass. No aftermarket hardtops. Not even the new ones from Mazdaspeed. The way the rules are written, even if you have a roll bar or roll cage, you still have to have the factory hardtop.

I know someone who has a factory hard top for sale cheap. Their carport collapsed under the weight of some snow and damaged it a little but it would be a pretty easy fix. PM me if you want their contact info.

Just verified the farmtek transmitters work with the big spool of wire on the airline trips. The antennas can be far, far away from the course. I now need a field larger than my yard and 2 victims, I mean volunteers, for a good distance test. Seems to be about a 3-5 seconds before the next start will trip. Hopefully nobody will take longer than 3 seconds to get the rear tires past the start line

Just tried to register and saw that it's closed now. Is it ok to just show up?

Yes, it's fine to show up and register at the event site. Timing and scoring will be done old school with timing sheets for this event.
