Good Lord...!
Not the first time a deer has tried crossing SP during a track event. A Z06 met one awhile back, did some serious damage to the front right corner.
No, they really aren't smart... :-\

you see vids of this all the time .... hear about it even more often ... but it seems that Summit Point gets more than their share

It's a track in the sticks of BFN, WV, what do you expect?

I'm surprised no one's been mauled by a bear.

True... But they'd have to survive the impact then drag the driver out. Although the former is plausible...

I took out a deer there with the Hoosier box truck.
Summit is more like a subburb of DC. maybe an hour to get to Dulles Airport.

I hit a deer on a dark rainy February morning on Bethel Valley Road. I was going about 45 mph when the deer jumped out of the trees. It was so close when it jumped that I did not get my brakes on until after I hit it. It tore up everything on the front of my car. I hate to think what that would have done to me at a higher speed.

anyone else notice what apears to be a rubber chicken dangling out of the trunk of the Alfa?
will the Alfa folks return next race with a stuffed deer head on top of the car?

I like that you mention the rubber chicken but not that the video is being recorded by a boat.
And I believe there is talk of a deer theme for next year lol

Yeah, I saw that chicken! I had a good time at SP with all the insane themes and punishments.

Another instance of "anything can happen" in a LeMons race.
Ouch. I did that on Choto Rd with a Road King last June, but at only at 45 mph. It totaled the bike... and the deer.

I almost hit a (relatively small) bear on my motorcycle once. I was up on 421 and came around a blind corner to see a mama bear and her 3 cubs crossing the road. I managed to get stopped before I plowed into them, but the whole time I was thinking "Will my racing leathers stop bear claws?"
My biggest fear was that I'd take out one of the babies just enough to break the bike and be stuck with the angry mama and no workable way of getting away
