I don't know.
1) It just changed or is changing.
2) The way the Miata/RX8 people interpreted the old/current version of it and the way that I interpret it aren't the same.

Basically - Can't be longer than stock, can be shorter.
You can put stiffer ones in, softer ones, whatever - or at least it's common for folks that know what they are doing to do so. The rulebook doesn't specifically say you can run harder or softer bumpstops, but fast guys told me to change them so I did. I assume that it is considered part of the shock, so it's open as long as it's not longer than stock.
I think the intent of the rule would be to run the stock bumpstops. But they can be cut if needed.
But that's not what some are doing.

I assume this would cover you as well:
"Bump stops may be substituted for the purposes of installing non-standard shocks"

Ha! That's where you're already mistaken, John. It's Street classes now, so, ya know, it's different from the old Stock classes. In many ways that are elusive to me since I'm a Modified class person.
Re: Tell me more about the "BUMP-STOP" rule in Street..
This should probably be in the Solo section but...
Here is the revised wording that will probably be approved shortly, per the August and October Fastracks.
"“A suspension bump stop is considered to be performing the function of a spring. Therefore, the compressed length of the shock at the initial point of contact with the bump stop may not be increased from the standard part, although the bump stop may be shortened. Bump stops installed externally and concentric with the shaft of a shock may be drilled out to fit a larger diameter shock shaft. Bump stops may be substituted for the purposes of installing non-standard shocks provided they meet the length requirements, and are in the same location as stock.”
To me, the last sentence is what you are looking for regarding bump stop replacement.

Re: Tell me more about the "BUMP-STOP" rule in Street..
So,maybe the cars that "sit" on the stops..are so heavily rebounded that they dont rise off the stops once connected???

That has been the trick on some old low horsepower stuff in years past.
