Serpentine Belt Alignment

Post by jcoatney »

Anybody know of some way to check the alignment of a serpentine belt? None of the pulleys feel like they have any play in them. The only thing that is adjustable forward and backward is the alternator by way of shims. It may have been off by .08 or so but the only way I have to measure it is my eyeball.

Id investigate "flexing" of some mount,or component.. Is this your Mustang?

I used to have a VW that would shred belts. Just a little bit of misalignment was the problem.

I think john may uave a point. with as much power as you're making you might be flexing some motor mounts or something
