iRacing is much prettier now with DX11.

I don't get to play iRacing as much as I'd like, but this might change that:

Started running in a "Virtual MAARS" series with a few people from other regions. SYM TV is broadcasting the races live.

Last night: Mustangs/Miatas at Watkins Glen - https://youtu.be/XvZXutuOXBc (racing starts about 32 mins. First lap is a doozy!)

Couple of weeks ago: GT3 cars at Sebring: https://youtu.be/N2VHaREG5rA (racing begins aroun 22 mins.)

Also, there's now day/night transitions based on real time and geographic location. The track conditions and temps will change throughout a session.

:| :| eh, looks like the usual start to a MARRS event at Summit P. That's normal. :| :|

except, in iRacing the cleanup looks a lot quicker and easier.

Thought I'd make a quick post here since a lot of members are now using iRacing. To the point that most of the popular wheel/pedal sets are sold out everywhere.

Last weekend, we did the 24 Hours of Nurburgring driving an Audi RS3 LMS. Being buzzed by GT3 cars for 24 hours was a little terrifying. And we finished. Even though we finished mid-pack, it was a really great experience, and for the most part the racing was very clean. The day/night/day transitions are something else - very believable. The low light conditions look so real. And in my Sunday morning stint, you could see the heaps of marbles off the racing line. I got into them once. Don't do that.

Here's Ken Houseal with 15 mins left yeetin' in through Klostertal (I think).

Very cool, Chris. Wish I had the budget to at least get an entry level PC/laptop to do it.

Yeah it's not too expensive to get a machine going that could run a single monitor setup. $600-$800ish. The hard part right now would be finding a Logitech G29, which is the most common entry level wheel. All that stuff is sold out.
