Miata Battery
Miata Battery
Any recommendations for replacement battery? Local Mazda dealer wants $133. Autozone has one for $95 (but it's not a Westco or Deka).
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Miata Battery
If you're gonna spend that kind of money, a good light-weight battery would be the way to go. I've had a Odessy in my car for almost 2 years now and it's been great. For a little more money you can go with Braile. All this assumes you're not dead-set on the idea of the heavier stock battery.

$133? WTF? I paid $50 for an autozone special. I swear its the same battery my dad uses in his riding lawnmower.

Wait... I did splurge and pick up an Optima Red Top. Which died at the ripe old age of 7 months during the 2nd stint my car spent a Malibu (5 weeks total). But at least I paid cost for it...01badz28 wrote:$133? WTF? I paid $50 for an autozone special. I swear its the same battery my dad uses in his riding lawnmower.
I'd go with whatever auto store brand you want, but avoid Wal-Mart's Ever Start like the plague.

That was pretty much my response hence my need for recommendations. You got an AGM battery for $50?01badz28 wrote:$133? WTF? I paid $50 for an autozone special. I swear its the same battery my dad uses in his riding lawnmower.
I was really looking to spend less than $100 if possible. I don't think I would get a lot of value out of a light weight battery.Scuffcakes wrote:If you're gonna spend that kind of money, a good light-weight battery would be the way to go. Every O'Reilly's is supposed to keep a miata battery in stock. It was under $100 the last time I had to buy one in a hurry.

Couldn't tell you the brand, but its the stock size. Mine is just a DD, so I just go with whatever is cheap and works.Mike998 wrote:That was pretty much my response hence my need for recommendations. Going on three years on the one that is in the Camaro. Of course, I also use a battery charger on it when she sits in the garage.SilverMaxima wrote:

Re: Miata Battery
I just had to replace an autocraft "silver" battery (Advance Autoparts) in the MR2. It had lasted a minimum of 6 years.
Advance sells them for ~$80-90 depending on which warranty you want. No idea about availability for Miatas if they need something wierd.

Re: Miata Battery
for that kind of money I'd say check out Odyssey batteries from Batteries plus or Master Battery.
