I'm surprised State Farm hasn't dropped you guys after you file a claim.

Same here (well, 20 on mine), plus I've got some kind of "legacy" discount since I took over some of the policies from my dad.

Nope, never even been threatened with having my coverage dropped.

Yep. Wrecked my share of cars as a teenager but never got threatened to get dropped. I did get my rates bumped then, though.

My mom was with them for years. I got into a wreck (not my fault) and then my stereo got stolen out of my car when it was at the wrecker's lot. They dropped me right after that. They had to pay for the car because the car that hit me was reported stolen and the driver ran.

Yeah, my mom got dumped. I guess a $1500 claim in 20 something years of paying premiums is too much.

I've gotten nothing but horrendous experiences and prices from State Farm. I guess they don't like my face.

From personally knowing a State Farm agent, some of what they do is directly related to the agent. The one knew would drop you for getting into one at fault wreck. I did not have my policy with her.

I've got State Farm. I've had several claims and never been anything but satisfied. I inherited one policy from my dad that dates back to 1971. The discount on that policy is up to 40%. Heck, I don't even remember the last time my rates changed anywhere but downward.

Mark, I agree. It absolutely comes down to the agent. Or their secretary. In Seymour the agent listed was a guy but I always dealt with a woman. For whatever reason the commercial policies caused her to really look at me like a criminal. And two months later when I asked about inland marine coverage, she basically screamed that they don't have that. Which I find hard to believe considering how big they are.

Anyway, I went to Auto Owners Insurance after that and can't ask for better people. My premium for commercial liability and inland marine coverage for 1 year is less than what I paid for 6 months at State farm. And when the scanners got stolen 2 weeks ago, the adjustor was very easy to work with.

With respect to inland marine/commercial policies, I doubt most personal lines (your usual home/auto) agents also write that type of thing. I know with Travelers, it's probably a minority of the local agencies that write both. Most are one or the other. So while I'm sure State Farm the company probably has that type of policy available, that agency probably was not licensed or appointed to write that type of policy.

Unfortunately, it seems they don't bother to keep track of who sells what, else they might have referred you to someone.
