Equipment Setup Crew Recruits Wanted

Post by TennTechMan »

How are you with simple electronics?

I'm good at making smoke come out of electrical things.

I have this friend....

Well, my Xbox survived falling in my bath tub becuase I knew to get it out of the water before unplugging it.

Electrical stuff looks like tie-died spaghetti.

I know that it hurts when I stick two metal things in the long rectangle holes of an electrical outlet.

If any of the above were your first response to my question, you may not be a candidate for the coolest job in autocross.

I'm looking to recruit two or three people to learn how to set up electrical equipment at autocross events. This is a 1 to 1.5 person job. Once you get familiar with the equipment, it can be setup within an hour. Our equipment is both 120V AC and 12V DC powered (not at the same time).

The job requires:

Being on site by about 7:30AM
Remaining on site to take down and pack away the equipment
You must have a good understanding of simple electronic devices and circuits.
Being a quick learner, and having a decent memory is a plus.
Have Scott Gibson's phone number at the top of your cell phone's contact list.

The equipment to set up is:

Timer
FM Radio Transmitter
Speakers/FM Radios
Microphone and mic box
Timing lights and associated cables; setup includes aligning emiter/receiver
Timer display, range extenders, and associated cables

If you are interested in learning the skill of setting up the electrical equipment that makes events happen, please respond.

I wouldn't mind helping out with this. My only issue is that I tend to only make 7 to 8 events per year.

Per Pilson's great suggestion, I'm bumping this thread back up.

I have become less and less able to be at every event over the last few years, and Bob wants to start chairing some events. If you're interested in taking on learning this job, please post up here.

Please read the first post for general requirements/expectations.
