OFFICIAL - Street Tire Class for 2012 ETR Season
OFFICIAL - Street Tire Class for 2012 ETR Season
Due to the Road Tire stock classes that SCCA National has created for 2012, ETR will be running a street tire pax class. We will use the Rick Ruth PAX numbers for 2012.
2012 PAX calculations
--This class will allow competitors in Stock, Street Prepared, Street Modified, Modified, and Prepared to compete together in one class.
--Tires must have a treadwear rating or 140 or above. All other rules within your category are unchanged.
--Street Touring does not qualify for this class since ST PAX numbers are calculated based on results that already include street tire useage - thus, if they were allowed, ST classes would have an incredible advantage in this class.
--To register for this class, you would chose the "T" index class on the online registration form.
--Please add a "T" in front of your current class letters when running this class. for example TCS, TBSP, TSMF, TEM, TXP
This type of class is very popular throughout several regions in the nation, and it allows you to prepare for a category without the additional expense of R Compound tires. Additionally, Stock Category cars on street tires will have their own set of classes at the national level this year, creating a natural stepping stone to national competion - which is some of the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

Wonder how many STM regulars will swap...?
Will participants in this class need to put a T in front of their class letters on their car?

I'm glad we added this to our region. I've always liked it at TR and a few other's events.

This may be a consideration for me. I am not sure if the Evo got moved to ASP or not (I originally thought so, but I read Coatney state that the initial report was wrong because he is still in BSP). So, if the Evo is in BSP I will probably do the TBSP class.

So you can run SM with A6's and get the regular SM pax or run TSM with a 140 tw tire and get a different pax? Am I reading that right?

The guys running Hoosiers will not being running in the "Tire" class. It is an indexed class like pro. You would be running against people from other classes. Everyone will be on street tires. PAX will be used to determine how you finish in that class.onebadbugeye wrote:Then that still gives the guys with Hoosiers a huge advantagesteverife wrote:Same PAX.onebadbugeye wrote:So you can run SM with A6's and get the regular SM pax or run TSM with a 140 tw tire and get a different pax? This is correct. Basically it comes down to whoever drives their car the best and who has their car prepped close to the max of whatever class you are in. So if run SM and someone else runs HS... you could out RAW them, but they could still out PAX you and that's how the class is structured. It works pretty good... the TRSCCA uses it and its popular over there.
