Thoughts on a new car...

Post by EliseAutoXr »

Well, I need to pick a new a car, has to be a 4 door and around $30k ish. I'm mostly thinking a WRX at this point, is there anything else I should be considering? Also, as far as the WRX, would it be better to wait on the 2014? Thanks, any info is very much appreciated.

Check out the Focus ST, unless you are set on AWD.

Well, it has to be brand new because of the situation... I do like the Focus ST (especially if I was going to autox it or something), but this will be for just driving to work and when the weather is too bad to reasonably drive the Elise.

Yeah WRX is hard to beat as a practical daily that's still fun.

I don't know much about the 2014

The Focus ST certainly "feels" like a nice car inside and out, but I'm not sure it would be awesome for autocross. For whatever reason, Ford decided to not put a LSD in a 250hp FWD car. The car is pretty heavy too. For a DD car, it would be great. Just not sure it's a good autocrosser.

Does this need to be an autocross car?

Cadillac ATS V6!!!

Saw what you will... but I drove one of these when I was doing the PDIs on them at Adesa for the Auto show... I loved it and it handled really well.

Felt amazing inside and is a beautiful car as a whole.

But, they do start out at $33k and I'm not sure if that's the 2.0 turbo which is still 270hp.

If not that then I say WRX because unless you go up to 40k you can't get too great of a performance sedan...

If you go with the WRX, give Chris Anderson (Scooter) a call. He is at the Hairyman Store selling Scooooobie Doooooos.

Keeping the Elise, this is just for a "take more than 1 person" and drive when it is snowing type car :). I will check out the Focus ST and Caddy, I will also check with Chris if I get a WRX. Thanks for the info guys! I appreciate the time.

I always thought the GTi was pretty lame.. then Marcus let me drive it. I now want flappy-paddle, dual-clutch gearboxes in all my cars... it was a blast.

Yeah the DSG tranmission is a must, better gas mileage over the MT as well.
