Street Tire

Post by 01badz28 »

So what are the shit hot street tires for 2014? Last time I paid attention, I kept hearing about the BFG rivals but that was coming from the Pro-Touring guys.

FWIW, this would be for the Miata, not the Camaro.

For 2014, on a miata of your generation, specifically, the Toyo R1R.

You need 15 inch wheels.

Thanks. I was going to look at the wheels anyway since they changed the stock rules.

I would go ahead and purchase tires that fit the 2015 rules unless you just want to buy two sets of tires.

R1Rs usually only last a whole season locally. Assuming Ryan does about 10-12 events next year.

FWIW the 195's that I bought after the Labor Day 224hr (sept. '12) finished that season and all of '13 … they're down to about 3-4/32" now .. not enough for the 20 - 25 a-x that I typically run in a yr. especially since I drive the car to and from the events on those tires 120 - 140 mi each way

Oh yeah, if you don't shave em they'll last a good while. Forgot that part.
