Pipe Bender?

Post by disneyd »

Anyone know where I could have a 5/8" piece of stainless steel pipe bent? It is thin wall, but I'd have to measure it to get the exact thickness.

I just need it bent a little, probably about 20*, but I don't want it kinked, so I need something with a mandrel. It is also a pretty short piece, about 7" or so.

Any ideas? None of the Harbor Freight tools (or similar) than I can find will handle that diameter stainless.

I bet andrew keisler could do it.

Quickest way to get him is probably facebook - http://www.facebook.com/andrew.keisler.7?fref=ts

You might have some trouble with it only being 7" long. You wouldn't have much left to hold on to at either end. At 20 degrees of angle, I bet you wouldn't get too much crush using a typical "crush" bender.

I wonder what would happen if I packed it full of sand and rigged something up in my floor press?

Fill it with water and freeze it, I've heard that works. Them use a conduit bender

I like Scott's idea. Whichever you choose, let us know how it turns out.

My problem right now is that I need to find something to use as a mandrel for setting it up in my press.
