Hope the car doesn't look like this after I break her out of winter storage this weekend.

Subframe connectors and rear strut bar are tacked in. Roll bar is ready to be tacked in. Front strut bar won't fit because of the throttle body. :x

I pulled the rear hubs and bearings off the Z last night. I'm glad I did, they are both shot! Pulling old bearings off, pressing new bearings on the hubs tomorrow.

I won't have the LSD in the car before Dixie, but should have it for ETR #3. Completely unsure on when I'll have RE71Rs for the Z, miata is taking priority. I'm trying to keep a winning streak in TTE with it .

Got the car plasti-dipped over the weekend. Took us a bit to get it right but looks great. Its debut will be Sunday.
New graphics came in over the weekend as well. Those are going on tonight.

So, tell me about plasti dip.

Is it just a semi-temporary coating that peels off? How robust is it?

Do you have to prep the vehicle in a similar way that you would if you were painting it? (I assume you have to clean the surface and mask everything off)

You don't actually dip anything, right? Do you spray it on?

What does it cost to cover a car?

I kinda googled around about it a while back, but it seemed like for the effort and cost involved, I might as well paint a car.

I guess my real question is (and I'm not being a smartass here), why would you do it? What are the pros and cons?

I Plasti Dipped my old Jetta. It held up great. I might even do the FRS just to protect it from cone marks. It will cost you anywhere from $200 to $600. Just depends if you have the spray gun and what color if you do it yourself. You just get off all the wax and tape like you are painting. It took me about 15hrs of labor but its fun.

David.. I'll post up later about it.

Bottom line... 100 times less prep. Just make it really clean, get rid of old wax, etc... Wipe down with alcohol.

We have a power sprayer made for itto do large areas. I use spray cans at small things (mirrors).

Can't type much here at the moment.

I have the "Dip Your Car" sprayer. It's amazingy easy to do correctly but at the same time....easy to mess up if you dont prep properly.

You all will probably be seeing the FRS in safety cone orange (for autocross season) in the next month or so. Just haven't had the time. Wanted to do it before Dixie.
