What have you done to your car

Post by jcox07 »

With the season vastly approaching us, what all have you done to make your car better? I have dropped 35 pounds off of the nose and I hope that helps with turn in and it not be too pushy so I can carry more speed thru the corners. Time will tell.

I drove mine last night for the first time since the last autocross and scared the crap out of myself.

I've moved close to 50lbs off the nose of the car by doing the following:
Moved the ABS brick behind the passenger seat
Went from belt driven power steering to electric and mounted the pump in the trunk.
Redesigned front upper and lower control arms.

In anticipation of the added power from the new motor I have re-engineered the fuel system with new pumps, -6an lines, new injectors, regulator and filters.

I have dropped ~20 lbs of additional weight with new seats which I can't wait to play with.

I changed bump stops on the front of the car and spring rates on all 4 corners.

And moved on from the small blower that had been on the car to one that is slightly larger and much more efficient.

I'm sure Im leaving something out....but it's been a very busy few months and those of you who saw the car on facebook or in person can attest to how much work is left to do.

I walked by the lil red car last night.. and I did what I should have done back in November... I took my race shoes out of the driver seat, and put inside the house.

Oh, and fab'd a new intake.

I dunno how you guys in "non builders classes" stay out of trouble in the winter. LOL. Idle hands are the Devil's playground and such. :)

Tried to start the 8 to drive it around and it just kind of groaned at me. Dead battery. Also now probably flooded. YAY.

I pulled it out of the garage....and pulled someone else's car in. :( Personal stuff hits the back burner when there's cars to be fixed!

I put coilovers all the way around, 37MM front bar, took the rear bar out. I still have to flare the fenders, put the roll bar in, and swap the transmission.

I bought a pair of 12x18 wheels for the back of the yellow Vette so I can run 335/18/30 rivals instead of the 345/19/30 pilot super sports. Stickier tires and lower gear ratio. Also found out how to reproducibly dial in rear 'toe in' to help use all that hp.

New springs, new billet flywheel, gutted the car, putting in a racing seat, shed about 250lbs. Hope to get a cage installed before the season starts.

I have driven the Fucus nearly every day. I got it muddy last week and it needs an oil change.

Rebuilt top end and replaced water pump impeller and seals. Bought a new SA2015 helmet. Done.
