Looking for 100 octane or higher non-leaded fuel
Looking for 100 octane or higher non-leaded fuel
Like the topic states. I want to try a few things on the Miata and to do that I want to err on the side of caution so I need the highest octane fuel I can get without lead. I think West Haven sales race fuel but I am not sure if it is leaded or not. Also the Pilot near Gallaher view sales 93 but are there other places I can go? I will probably start running E85 in the car next season but more ignition and fuel mods will be required before I can and I just don't have the time.

Run 100LL Avgas. Available at all small airports. I used to run it in a drag car.

Don't know where you live Cody but there is a pilot station near Kingston that sells 112 octane fuel.

I am in Knoxville. 112 would be a bit excessive for my needs, but if it was local then I would surly love to blend it. Kingston is a bit too far for me though.
The Avgas thing sounds doable though. Can I just go up to Tyson McGhee and request fuel or do I need to know someone? Is there a Sunoco around that sells it by chance? I have seen a station out near Middlesboro, KY sell racing fuel, but I believe it was leaded 110.

The Shell across from Walmart on Clinton Highway has some kind of high octane. Not sure of details beyond that. I think it might be 110 leaded.

You should not have a problem showing up at an airport with a fuel jug. Tell them it's for your race car. Should be fine.

There is also a VP station somewhere off Tazewell Pike. If it is like the VP in Lincoln, NE, then they'll have 100 unleaded pump.
Per google, Knoxville Performance has VP100 unleaded, too.

Sweet, didn't even know Knoxville performance existed. It's also reasonably close. I am sure there are others that value this information, so if anyone knows another place please post it up. Places around Bristol would be good to know as well.
Re: Looking for 100 octane or higher non-leaded fuel
Hey, if ya don't mind, post up how much you pay per gallon. You got me thinking that I may want to do the same thing now.

Sure. I will be out of town all next week and my injectors should be back from cleaning when I get back. I'll let you know the prices when I know more. I will probably just buy 5 gallons of it and blend 50/50 with 93/100 octane and hope I don't hear any pining. lol
Re: Looking for 100 octane or higher non-leaded fuel
I don't know this, but I'd guess Bristol would have something next door, given the drag strip.

Re: Looking for 100 octane or higher non-leaded fuel
Lol, forgot all about the drag strip right next to it. I didn't notice any pumps when we walked over there at the last event but, I wasn't really paying close attention to their commodities.
Re: Looking for 100 octane or higher non-leaded fuel
In addition to the VP store on Tazewell pike, check Westhaven off of Western Ave and I-640. I know they have high octane leaded and think they have the 100 unleaded.

At Bristol a gas station about a 1/4 past speedway has turbo blue. The price was about 4.50 a gallon.
