Places online to get helmets

Post by 240sxTurbo »

Looking for a place online that I can get me a helmet for next year. I prefer open face similar to the loaner ones....just without the hassle of chasing them down between runs.....

Please share links if you have them.

Personally, I prefer to try them on before buying. I bought mine at a motorcycle shop. Mine was expensive but I bought a composite full face helmet. I know there are shops around that sell ones similar to what we have for loaners for around $100 or less.

I would stay away from E-Bay for a helmet since you really don't know what you are buying or who you are buying it from. At least with an online business, you can return it. Try searching for motorcycle helmets on yahoo or something similar. Be sure you get the the right Snell rating.

any reason you'd rather go internet?

i bought one at the suzuki place on alcoa highway. got to try on several different ones and walked out of the door for less than $70. the best part is that i decided i wanted one late on a saturday afternoon, walked out with it in my hands a few minutes later, then used it in an event the next day.

Try Racerwholesale for helmets. The region has authorized purchase of more loaner helmets and we might be able to include yours in the order. I would make sure that you get 2000 or newer helmet since the certification is only good for 10 yrs(in other words, 1995 helmet may be good for SCCA for 2 more yrs)

I'm no expert, but if you do get a used helmet on E-bay, I would get nothing less than a Snell-SA 2000. It's your head.

I forgot who is in charge of getting more club helmets, but this would not be a bad choice:

I agree w/ whenry. I tried on helmets at Biker Rags, then ordered one off Racer Wholsale.com. I got my helmet within a week, and it fit fine. Good luck finding one.

Wow, that is good price at Helmetcity. For those of you who think that you may upgrade in the future, you should probably get a SA2000 helmet but as a bare bones helmet, that is tough to beat. Of course, how much is your head worth?

That's the same helmet I got at goodtimes, cept mine is black. It was $71 out the door. By the time you figure shipping it is probably within a couple dollars in price, plus you don't have to wait for it, and you get to try it on.

What size do you need? I have a 7 1/8, full face, SA 95 that is out dated for road racing, but has a couple of years left for solo.
