best dyno services in Eastern TN or Central KY

Post by PolishFury »

I posted this in the "Best Shops for Services" sticky thread, but didn't get any replies.

"I did not see any recommendations on dyno tuning services in this thread. A search of the entire forum came back with outdated recommendations (from three or more years ago). I need to have a Honda Civic (fully built, NA, high compression, SOHC) with Hondata s300 dyno-tuned to adjust the fuel maps. I recently had the fuel injectors refurbished by Marren Injectors so I imagine some fuel will need to be pulled from the tune.

I live in Cumberland Gap (TN/VA/KY tri-state area) and don't want to go more than three hours away, unless the shop is worth the trip. I have read here that people recommended Fastech Motorsports in Louisville, TN and High Velocity Motorsports in Powell, but do not recommend Knoxville Performance.

What is the current state of dyno services in the area?

Thanks."

I haven't had anything worth running on a dyno in over 8 years. When I did I used Air Cooled Classics (gone now) and LNS Motorsport (Knoxville Performance). Always been treated fairly with both but I know LNS has taken a beating on the internet.

I'd recommend Fastech if you don't need tuning. They're pretty sharp dudes down there.

If you're just wanting to strap onto a dyno and get a number, it doesn't really matter who does it in my opinion. Dynojets tend to read higher....high velocity has one. Mustangs trend to read lower, that's LNS. Not sure where Fastech and their Dyno Dynamics would fall.

LNS said my car had 80hp. But it outran cars with 120 HP. They "changed the weight of the car" and it changed the graph. I always thought torque and HP was independent of the car. But it told me what the graph was and the butt dyno coincided with what their graph showed me.

Thanks for the input everyone.

I don't just need a number. I need a good shop that can tweak the Hondata tune to pull fuel out since my injectors are now flowing as they should and not ruin the engine in the process.

I'm going to give Fastech a try. (Fingers crossed.)
