Unless 50 series tires are an advantage, there is no advantage...

Weight is the same. 25 pounds
225/50 are .2 taller
Tread width on the 245/40's is +1.1"

I don't get it... :?:

As far as what will fit: With a ride height about like mine, with 245/40/17's on 9's, it requires 3 things
1.) 45-48mm offset.
2.) rolled fenders, especially the rears. (Can't change the outside of the fender, at all)
3.) at least 2.25 degrees negative camber f/r. (If you roll the rear fenders flat on the inside, you can run 255's)

BTW. We need to park our cars side by side so you can start making a list of OE parts for the Mazda dealer. :P
