1989 CRX Si - prepped for STS - new price (10/5/14)

Post by steverife »

Alright. I absolutely love the car and have struggled with selling it for a while, but I've decided that I want to run something more modern and with more horsepower for '15 and I need this car gone to be in the position to buy/build a car over the off-season. I've driven the car to events in Bristol and Atlanta this month. It'll easily hold 4 tires, jack, toolbox, air tank, cooler, helmet, water sprayer, and bags for personals for several days. It has gotten close to 40 mpg on the trips. The only thing I'd think about changing is the seat. It is also eligible for antique tags, so if it is your weekend toy, you only have to tag it once. Co-drives available to interested buyers.

Scott Sawyer built this car. He has done many Hondas and is a mechanic by trade. I purchased the car from him in July 2010.

1989 Honda CRX Si
Approximately 290k miles on the chassis
custom green/white/black paint job
rub strips removed and holes filled with metal

Powertrain
I'm not sure the mileage on the rebuild, but somewhere in the 10-20k mile range
Legal upgraded head gasket (5 layer steel)
DC style header - I was told DC, but I don't think it is.
AEM cold air intake (in fender)
shorty exhaust w/Supertrapp (Always passes sound!)
B&M shortshifter
poly shifter bushings
poly motor mount inserts
smooth shifting trans
Zdyne ecu- full standalone engine management (cable included)
lightweight motorcycle battery in custom mount (somewhere in the 5-7# range)
donor axles if you want a set built by Raxles

Interior
Momo Start driver seat
plastic Summit racing passenger seat
Stock driver and passenger seats
all four seats on factory sliders, bolt in
Momo steering wheel with extension to move it closer to driver (purchased in '12)
radio and antenna block off plates
speakers removed
A/C removed
new cargo divider
new HVAC controls (purchased in '10)

Suspension
Koni 3011's built by ProPartsUSA with their custom pillowball mounts (built before the 2012 season, went through in August '12)
an extra set of Koni SPSS3's w/GC sleeves
500# F and 550# R springs
Si and Hf front sway bars (off the car)
ASR rear sway bar with .095" and .188" wall center sections
Poly bushings
Skunk 2 front upper control arms
Ingall's camber kits front (off car with the factory UCA's) and rear
(4) 15x7 Enkei RPF-1's (+41 offset)
(4) 15x7.5 silver 6UL's (+43 offset, I think)
(2) 15x7.5 charcoal TRM wheels (+43, brand new, never used)
a set of steelies with decent street tires
a full sets of stock wheels (I think)
a set of full tread brand new 195/50/15 R1R's
a set of well worn shaved 195/50/15 R1R's

The bad:
- slight oil drip. You should check the oil when autocrossing these, so I never dealt with it.
- You will fall in love with it and might have to sell it at some point.

The car has a new starter installed in '13, fresh front hubs/bearings/etc, new clutch and rear main seal from '12, new tie rods from '11, rebuilt steering rack done in '11, new alternator in '11, and probably a bunch of stuff I can't remember. We replaced everything in the front suspension. The car got a new windshield in '10. It comes with a variety of spares.

There is probably lots more, but those are the basics. I'll do my best to answer any questions.

Asking $6000 with all my Honda stuff. Asking $5000 with your chose of 1 set of wheels, along with the steelies.

You would have a hard time building or buying anything this thecompetitive for that amount of money.

Bringing this back up...

I'm 100% committed to selling the car. $6000 with all my crap. $5000 with 1 set of wheels and the worn Toyos. If you have interest in any configuration, we can talk. :)

It seems like I have some pretty serious interest in both full sets of wheels.

I'd take $4600 for the car as it sits with the steels wheels/street tires and the new pair of TRM C1's. Buy 2 new wheels and your 2015 tire of choice and you are good to go.

Any interest in the car at all locally? With or without the RPF1's?

If you got it down to the point where it was just a "regular old crx" i might be, but it would not be an autox car at all for me. Winter daily.
