SOLD!!! - 1991 Honda CRX Auto-x/TT Car & Components

Post by Mike Burke »

As of today, Oct. 1st, Walter's CRX and associated "stuff" live in Knoxville. The HAPPY new owner plans to auto-x the car yet this season.

Hello Fellow Motorsports Enthusiasts,

In January, unfortunately we all lost a great friend and very active/successful Motorsports competitor, Walter Jones. The attorney handling Walter's estate has finally advised that the sale of Walter's belongings could begin, and the Jones family asked me to assist with their prompt disposal of Walter's competition car and related materials. In compliance with the family's wishes, the following items are to be sold as a single package:

---1991 Honda CRX - see photo below - 142,300 miles, set up to compete in SCCA's STS auto-x class and Time Trials TTE class. The car is in good running condition and has won multiple season class championships with literally hundreds of individual event podiums, mostly wins. It is equipped with race seats, race safety harnesses on both sides, a roll bar, and an aftermarket low restriction exhaust system.

---Included with the car are the following:
A car towing dolly, tire trailer with a tool box, 1 set of 13x7, 4/100 steel wheels; 2 sets of 13x8, 4/100 alloy wheels; 1 set of 14x5, 4/100 alloy wheels; 1 set 15x7, 4/100 alloy wheels; 1 set 15x8, 4/100 alloy wheels. Note, all wheels come with mounted "well used" tires. A barely used car cover, spare set of racing seats, nearly new aluminum floor jack, three other floor jacks, two used size XL one piece driver suits, new -never out of the box- G Force full face helmet, size XL w/ 2010 Snell sticker, used Race Quip Snell 05 helmet, small electric air compressor, non HANS head & neck restraint, and miscellaneous used exhaust system, steering column, drive line components and a small amount of other nits and knacks pieces

As mentioned, this winning car and the other listed items are to be sold as a package to facilitate prompt removal from their current location near Asheville, NC. All offers considered with 100% of the sale's proceeds used to offset expenses at an assisted living facility where Walter's mother now resides. To arrange an inspection/test drive, please call me at 828 258-2442.

Thank you in advance for your interest!!!

There's a reason for that. I like STM for the social aspect of it as a lot of my friends run in that class. We help each other out and such. Often enough, those 2 classes aren't in the same heat.

Also plan to add a quick release and a new wheel to it. Not sure if that would knock it out of STS or not (since CRX's don't have airbags. Car already has an aftermarket Grant of some sort).

I do wish I could use 55 since the numbers are still plastered all over the car. That way I wouldn't have to worry with my shitty old magnets that are loosing their stick.

Why can't you run it as 55? I've heard nothing about retiring numbers. I looked and number 55 is open in STM I changed you to 55 for Adesa...would be nice to see that number again. If for any reason you want to change to something else we can do that.

Thanks. I appreciate it. When I originally tried to register on motorsportreg with 55, it said someone had reserved it.
