Cheap and Reliable: 2008 Mazda 3 Hatch Grand Touring

Post by thrdeye »

SOLD

2008 Mazda 3 Grand Touring
5 Door Hatch
155000 miles
Automatic Transmission w/ sport shift
Grey

$3600 OBO (kbb in good condition private party is $3900)

This car has served us very well. I still drive it daily and take it on trips. Selling because we’re trying to thin the herd a little bit and try to get to a daily driver that can also meet our towing needs.

Features:

Moonroof
Leather seats (heated)
HID headlights w. auto off
Rain sensing auto wipers
Foglights
BOSE Sound System w. AUX input
Power windows, locks, mirrors
Fold down rear seats

Good:

Runs perfectly, well maintained, doesn’t burn oil, no leaks
New tires (less than 500 miles on them)
New battery (Oct 2016)

Cosmetic issues:

Small scrape on the lowest part of the front bumper skin from brushing against a landscaping stone when pulling out of driveway
The clearcoat on the plastic spoiler above the hatch is on it’s way out.
Minor curb rash on some wheels
Passenger front seat: some stitching is coming loose on the seat. It isn’t getting worse
Minori scratches that you’d expect on a 155k car

Other Issues

Intermittent check engine light for a random misfire. It comes and goes and I have not bothered tracking this issue down, as it has not impacted running condition or fuel consumption. In my research, I have found that the cause could be a few different things (O2 for example), and just haven’t had time to work on it.
As is common with Mazda3’s, it could probably use new motor mounts.
The CD player in the head unit doesn’t work. Could be a stuck disc. Everything else in the sound system works fine. Haven’t bothered with it since I just use phone with AUX input for most things.
One of the illumination lights for the seat heater button is not working.

I will get some pictures soon.

Ha yeah that is the thing. The Armada gets us down to 3. Thank goodness.

I'd like to get her racing. She LOVED the Veloce karting, but a shifter kart is not a good beginner autox car. Although, she has autocrossed 10-12 times. She taught Rife how to work course.

She could drive a TAG instead of a shifter. Not too different from the Veloce karts I'd guess. No shifting, push-button start, easy maintenance and the speeds are the same after slower starts. Not great for ProSolos, but work well everywhere else... /enabling
