2001 Celica GT (solo GS)

Post by MARKP »

Fast and legal, nationally competitive car. Multi-time national champ and trophy winner. The lightest one you will find. No option car that is completely capable of dual-purpose duty. I drive this to every event and drove it 16 hours to Lincoln without stopping.

Here's what you get:
2001 Celica with roughly 130k miles.
double adjustable Konis fully rebuilt last year by Koni
new front hub bearings last year
new front suspension bushings about 2 years ago
one set of stock wheels with good tires
three sets of Rota Slipstreams that you can't get anymore (the lightest around)
two sets of Konig wheels (one set still new in the box)
one set of off-brand wheels that are within a pound of the weight of the Rotas
One set of Hoosiers with three events on them
a pair of sticker Hoosiers, not mounted
a pair of sticker BFGs on wheels
a pair of sticker Kumho V710s on wheels
stock muffler currently off the car but just bolts back on
current exhaust is a bolt-on straight pipe exiting at the bumper that sounds great and regularly registers around 90db at events
complete set of stock shocks
pair of Koni "wet kit" double adjustable front struts that need to be rebuilt
Toyota factory service manuals
trailer hitch
Front and rear Toyota bumpers (still new in the packaging)

Known issues:
It uses oil, roughly a quart every 1000 miles, depending on how you drive it - this is a common problem with 2000-2002 Celicas that is well documented to be the oil control rings. It has not had any effect on the performance of the engine.
The interior has the typical scuffs, etc of an autocross car
The paint has some issues but there is no rust anywhere on this car

I'm selling it because it has come time for me to do something else. I would just keep it if I needed a daily driver because I really like the car. The car is located in Knoxville, TN and will continue to be at events until it is sold. I think it has the potential to do well in the new "street" class if that goes through. It will likely be one of the lightest cars in it's class.

Tire trailer available for an extra charge.

$7500 for everything. Not willing to part it out at this time.

????

This is a shock to me. When you say "time to do something else", do you mean a different car/class, or something other than autocross?

Good luck with the sale

That remains to be seen at this point. If I do get another car, it won't be "street". Just not my idea of fun although the car probably has a good shot of doing well there.

Ok, I know you and I talked briefly about it @ the last event I was at, but wasn't sure.

It sounds like more than a few people are thinking along those lines as well if you believe their talk on RRAX.

Good luck with the sale. It seems like a good deal.

That's a BIG fuel tank.

Great car for someone wanting to get serious about being competitive nationally.

I'm likely out entirely on national stuff. I was thinking about running the Camaro locally but I need to do some work on it before I even think about running it.

Dang, is this mostly from the new proposals?

I've only seen 2 people actually want the rule-change, lol

Not sure if I'll be making the events over memorial day, but if I am and have decent tires on, I'll let you know.

Let him run SSP in the Vette :eating:

I hope you make the event just so we can meet. It would be good to see another C5 Vette runnning.
