The back side of the rim where it contacts the brake rotor hub is the important side. I thought Mazda sculpted the rim face out between the lug bolt holes. The pad around the lug hole is the important area that holds the rim to the car. The wall thickness needing removed is 1.5mm or 1/16" , so stand that penny on end on the inside hub of the rim. Or I can meet with you after cars n coffee or whenever is convenient to have a look.

I sold those wheels years ago after I sold the Civic and quit autocrossing. They were Miata wheels that were bored out to fit though. Worked great for what I needed.

Thanks for the info. I picked up the 15's with 40ET and in the process of getting them bored out. Fingers crossed.

I still would like to find some 35mm offset rims tho.
