Dad is selling his 1989 Honda Civic Si. Ready to race.

Post by firingonfour »

SOLD. This car is set up for autocross (Street Touring Compact class) by Cliff Rosenberg in Chattanooga, TN. Dad drove this car for one and a half autocross seasons locally (East TN Region SCCA club). Otherwise, he has used it as a commuter, mostly highway miles (225,000). The following modifications and maintenance have been performed over the past few years:

1. Energy polypropylene suspension bushing kit.
2. Skunk 2 coil overs
3. 22mm suspension techniques rear sway bar
4. Ingalls front and rear camber adjusters
5. Front and rear Koni yellow single adjustable shock absorbers
6. 325 lb. front and 400 lb. rear springs
7. Vibrant cold air intake
8. Front and rear Vibrant upper shock tower braces
9. Enkei 15x7 Rpf1 (silver) wheels (41mm offset, 4x100 mm bolt circle) with P205/50R 15" tires from Edge Racing
10. Rear Vibrant lower shock tower brace
11. DC 4-2-1 Ceramic Header, Two piece
12. 2 1/4" exhaust piping, catalytic converter, and magna flow stainless performance muffler
13. Timing belt, water pump, seals, front brake pads, rear brake shoes
14. Alignment, 4 corner balance, rolled fenders (LNS Motorsports, Knoxville, TN.)
15. Miscellaneous maintenance replacements: Radiator, left front axle, air conditioner parts, battery, sunroof switch, rear hatch struts, oxygen sensor, lower spark plug seals, fuel cut relay, brake master cylinder, brake booster, driver seat upholstery repair.
16. The stereo and speakers are great!

Autocross set up, including original purchase of the car, totals over $7600. As you can see from the photos, this car is in excellent condition for its age. The engine is strong, and the car has been well maintained. Dad can provide maintenance records with the car.

Please message me with any questions you have, and I can put you in touch with my dad (John) if you'd like to take it for a test drive. Mark Pilson and Robert Carpenter have, I belive, driven this car, so they may be able to provide some insight if you know either of those two gentlemen.

Asking $4200. You can see photos here:

Thanks for looking,

It has been a while since I have seen the car but it looks as good as I remember it in the pictures. This looks like it would be a good dual-purpose car for someone looking to jump into something competitive that still needs to serve daily duties. Good luck with the sale.

I've spotted it a few times over the last few weeks driving out to Aaron's house. The car looks fantastic.

As a FYI, the Ingalls front adjusters are not ST legal.

I see this car a lot since I drive past the guy's house several times per day. It does look pretty good. Exhaust is kind of loud though for daily duty. Looks like a good deal for someone wanting to be competitive with little effort (mechanically).

...and that is making the assumption that the 1/4" or whatever hasn't been milled off to make it by the book legal. I don't think this car has competed since this "clarification" came out, so I'm guessing it hasn't...

Anyway, the Skunk2 upper arms are a legal option and not too much work to install. You probably want to look at the balljoints anyway...

this ….to the best of my knowledge, they've never been protested … even if they've been deemed "illegal"
