Elizabethton Event

Post by scottgib »

I am posting this for Curt:

I’d like to invite everyone to the Covered Bridge Celebration Autocross and points event #6 for the East Tennessee Region of the Sports Car Club of America to be held at Elizabethton High School on June 4th, 2005

This is going to be a big event and shouldn’t be missed. A large crowd of newbies, as well as spectators, are expected. Bleachers, venders, and security are being arranged presently.

There have been several radio ads aired in the past week with an interview planned next week on “SportsLine with Bill Mead” explaining, to those that don’t know, what happens at an autocross.

Also, some lucky ETR member will get to drive the course, at speed, with a local radio personality broadcasting LIVE from the passenger seat of their car. Who will do the driving? Well, if Robert Carpenter (2004 National Champion) doesn’t show up, it could be you or me. Better just come and find out who will get to make them scream.

AmeriCourt Hotels (link below) will provide the official accommodations for anyone wanting to come down on Friday. They are giving us 10% off of the regular price of $59.00. Just mention the SCCA. Also, a drive and eat is being planned for Friday evening. (TBA on this thread.)

Last but not least, I’d like to thank Scott Gibson of the ETR, James Barker from the Covered Bridge Celebration, and the principal of EHS, Ed Alaxander for the work that has already been done to make this the biggest ETR autocross since the Dogwood Grand Prix.

Sincerely,
Curt Boegemann

Everybodies chance to be the LIVE BROADCAST driver just got better. Mark P. and Robert C. will be at Roberts daughters birthday party and won't be able to make it. The driver will have to be approved by Scott Gibson and won't be announced until race day.

Also, the Covered Bridge Celebration will provide trouphies for every class plus FTD, Fastest PAX time, and fastest first timer. Thanks to James Barker for taking care of that.

More to come!
