Are we looking for a viable Plan "B" if PSCC would no longer be an option?

Ok,

So this will be my 1st real season with the club and after some discussion over the weekend, I kinda had a panic attack. OK, not literally, but gave me pause.

No matter how well we police the sound @ PS, I really fear a time in the near future where the new people that are going to be in those new townhouses/apartments complain enough every event ( not just US, but the other clubs that use it ), that we could find ourselves without a home lot to run.

If there are any sites that we've said "that would be awesome to get there, but no one knows a way in", have we thought about reaching out to national office and them in turn get to the Boreems and let them do their magic?
There HAS to be some decent places that we can run in a 30 minute radius.

I know we've been able to run @ Smokies' and Dollywood when it's "off season" there, that only covers a few events.
I don't know the area well enough, so I'm not saying I have a better idea, but I'd hate to have to scramble to find other means to run the region's events.

We have done all of the above. The exception being that Dollywood was not an SCCA event. We actually had an awesome venue lined up a couple of years ago that said, we only need your insurance to be $xxxxxxxx.xx. We couldn't get there, too many xs.

Long story short, we have enough expensive venues to keep us viable but we all know what happens with expensive venues, things get more expensive. What we need is some more venues that don't cost thousands per weekend to rent. That's what Pellissippi is to us and that's how we can afford to do the things we do as a club.

If anyone has any new ideas for venues, I'm sure we would be happy to listen.

Like I said, I wasn't sure and I can't think of any bright ideas on it at this point.

I am pretty sure I could get the airport if ETR wanted to a joint Chatt event.

That was the venue Mark was talking about with the insurance (McGee Tyson). He have a pretty substantial insurance policy, but they basically needed enough insurance in case someone slid off course and destroyed a DC9. Even if multiple regions hosted the event, you don't normally get to stack the relevant insurance limits.

That is a different airport that Berry is talking about, Berry is talking about the Clev. Jetport.

Are they letting you use more of the Jetport than what we did @ that 1st event? I've not been able to make it back since then, but I will be there this year from time to time.

It might not hurt to revisit McGhee Tyson and see if they still require the same amount of insurance coverage. If so, maybe we can get some more quotes on insurance.

Unfortunately, it looks like they have now made use of the lot that we were looking at, at McGhee Tyson.

I think we would have a better shot on the TANG side at this point. My contacts there are long gone but there may be some possibility since they have announced that they will have the air show back. Anybody know anybody over there? Feel free to PM me or JY if you have a contact instead of posting here.

I think we did get some insurance quotes at the time and they would have made the entry fee a couple of hundred dollars (or more) per entrant just to break even.

At any rate, I'd be game to look at it again, but I don't have any contacts over there.

Mark, would that be something that we could get national office involved in with the boreems?

I have spoken to Raleigh about the insurance issue. He said it would be a no-go.
