Sears at Fort Henry Mall slated to close this spring. There's a reasonable size lot with space for paddock and grid and spectators, part of which currently gets used for car shows several weekends each year, and a carnival blows through a few times each year, too. If the new mall owners would allow the through-ways to be blocked, it would be a good lot for us. Only one light pole in the middle. https://www.google.com/maps/@36.5293899 ... a=!3m1!1e3

The only potential issue I see is that there is a loading dock right off that lot, we may need to do a little coordination to make sure we don't interrupt any business related to that.

Good find.

And right next to that is one of the entrances to the mall itself, so some cordoning off would likely be required at that location. The main issue I see is getting permission to stop traffic from being able to follow the current unimpeded path. Just depends on what the new mall owners are willing to do and at what price. Signs are up inside and out about the store closing. Target is early Q2 I think.

But they still had a banner out as recently as two days ago that they were hiring.

I mentioned the Borla facility near Johnson City on another post, but thought to post it again here. Seems like it might be decent from looking at Google Earth.

Borla looks to be about 350x500 with 6 light poles on it, not bad but not great either and the pavement looks old as well.

I think the club has used the borla site in the past also. Way before my time.

Technically this is in the SWVA area, so we might need to get permission to run there. The biggest lot there is bigger than the drag strip lot at BMS.

I will try to take a look at it the next time I am up there.

Google streetview actually works in the parking lot. Pretty cool. Looks like it could be a bit bumpy just judging from the patchwork and the likely age of the pavement. Big enough though. And *just* in VA

I'll be up there this week for the races. We'll take a drive thru and look at the condition.

Why are we even worried about this lot since it is further away than bristol is and we are bitching about wanting to have so many events there?
