Kmart in Johnson City is closing soon (maybe it already has?) https://www.google.com/maps/@36.3520684 ... !1e3?hl=en
The lot looks big enough but it's been a while since I've been there so don't know the condition it is in.

I wasn't saying we needed to run there, but updating the list of potential spots in case it was ever needed.

Yeah, no need to go there as long as we have Bristol Motor Speedway. Of course, we have no guarantee that BMS will always be an option.

We took a ride thru the mall parking lot and while the front lot is probably big enough there's lots of cracks with seam sealer and weeds growing thru making it bumpy. I'd say it's a small step above East Towne Mall.

Has anyone tried to talk to any Kmart folks? The Johnson City store is closed and the lot is in pretty great shape. Few lights and the surface is pretty smooth (coming from a kart driver mind you). We could have some pretty good courses on it.

Scott, are there any signs posted with phone numbers? Also, do you know the address of that K-mart?

It's the one posted above by Joey. Address is something around 3019 Peoples St, Johnson City, TN 37604.

I did not notice any phone numbers but can look this weekend if I venture down that way.

No signs posted on the property or the building. I am around here often and I will keep an eyes open.

looked up that address on the local GIS. Looks like Sears still owns the land.

Kingsport KMart will be closing, too. It's only ~400' x 400', though, with a separate lot for paddock and grid. The Johnson City store lot would be significantly bigger.

I came by the old JC KMart location last night and saw a bunch of heavy equipment. Almost looked like they were tearing it down.

They are actually splitting the building up into smaller units and from what I have heard are going to do some out parcels for other units.
