For Those Headed to Walter's State for the First Time

Post by TennTechMan »

A warning for anyone that's never been there before, LOOK AT THE SITE ON A MAP BEFORE YOU LEAVE!

I made this mistake the first time I attended an event there. I thought, "Oh, I can get to the campus, and it'll be obvious. How hard could it be to find 70 people and their race cars?" The site is a little off the beaten path. Were it not for a couple very patient ETR members guiding me in by phone, I would have had to turn around and go home because I don't think I would have found it.

Also, there are some speed cameras between the interstate and the site, so be aware of that.

Good info. When you make that right turn off the main drag, immediately you're going to think "this can't be right..." Oh, but it is.

And don't speed (much) heading to the site once you hop off I81... LEOs are everywhere.

That road off of the main road is full of pot holes too. Or, at least, it was. I felt like I was warming up for the autocross just dodging the holes.

Also between the interstate and the site there is a LOT of road work. So slow down. Its even 35 in one spot.

I thought for sure I was lost, but then I saw the sea of cones, and felt at home!
The map on the Schedule and Events page drops a pin on the right latitude and longitude (on my android phone) and brought me straight to it. Thanks to whoever had the foresight to do that.

I had intentions of creating this thread on Friday, but never got around to it.
