After further review I have found Wayne was in fact correct. The freaking sensor on top of the T-Stat housing was in fact a lost soul. I think I will build a gaurd rail around the replacement.( maybe) Still trying to figure out what I did to kill it.

You probably looked at it wrong. Just a slight bump may kill it. I have even seen them work after they were damaged so long it was firmly held in place BUT do you really want to take that chance.
I used the Roger Delp method and merely cut a short length of hose and tie wrapped it. We rarely replaced the sensor after that.

Yea ,seems like the head gskt might be blown, got some coolant type stuff out the tail pipe. Seems to take too long to evaperate.
