I can vouch for the GM 'Vortech' truck engines, my full size 6.2 had a 5,000 pound towing capacity and it doesn't notice my piddly ass tire trailer.

GM trucks on the other hand, I have no experience with. :lol2:

My 97 Burb towing CM formula ford, open trailer = 13mpg
Scirocco on open trailer= 12mpg
24 foot closed trailer= 9mpg empty or loaded
empty with no trailer = 16 to 18 depending on speed.

old f350 diesel dually with 48 foot goose neck at 26,000 lbs = 8 to 11 MPG depending on hills or flat Florida . Rear end ratio was geared for towing tho.

I wouldn't do anything till you've looked/driven Keith's truck. Such a perfect and rare combo and his vehicles are always in a beautiful shape. Way under your budget too. It's an 03 from the signature.

I've talked about buying a really fun sports car probably for years and I've even driven a few Corvettes and S200's of late. But I can't pull the trigger...

The reason is that I need some level practicality to justify a purchase. I don't need a daily driver and I wouldn't autocross a Corvette.

If I had a Corvette sized budget and wasn't a totally hack, I'd want to autocross one...

...but I'm all in on the Honda, so that is irrelevant now. :eating:

I'm a little late to the discussion, but I vote Lightning. It tows well enough, and it's a lot of hp/torque for the money. For a ~10 year old vehicle, there is a lot of aftermarket support.

A diesel would be nice too. It would probably be more comfortable to tow with than my Lightning. But it wouldn't be enjoyable for much else.
