I've always wondered how the R1R compared to the Star Spec in the wet. I'm glad people go to the trouble of doing these tests and then publishing them.
I guess the STC and STS crowd use full depth R1R's for rains more for the contingency money.
Yeah, I imagine it also depends on the car. I don't recall what they used in that previous test without digging up the magazine.
Also, I've heard those Michelin Super Sports are spectacular all-rounders. A bunch of Porsche guys were raving about them last PCA track event I dropped in on.
Half worn out Michelin Pilot SS's were on my Cayman when I bought it. For a performance tire they sucked. I replaced them with RE-11's and the difference was dramatic. Of course I took a hit on tread life.
If RS3 Kooks are available, that what I would get. (They were not available in my sizes when I bought).
