I don't think anyone touches Disimo's competition weight in a miata.

This thread and all it's modifiers are hilarious. They're all valid too!

Obviously I like this DAX thing. Not only does it say that the current PAX/RTP of 0.83 for FS is quite a bit too high, it also says that heavy, powerful 2WD cars are hurt more by going to street tires from R-comps than lighter, less powerful cars. If the RTR chart is accurate, the index for F Street should be ~0.78. That's the revised F Stock PAX of 0.813 times 0.96.

Sure. I've been there. Mark Pilson drove my car at the September 15th event (47.391 to my 50.591). But at least I would be on a more even footing and know how much I needed to improve. Using the unmodified F Stock PAX makes it look a whole lot harder. There was a reason why tire class was invented.

I recalculated the results of #12 using the DAX indexes and my best guesses for the tire indexes from eyeballing the charts. Positions, other than tire class, don't change much except for SSM and XP. I still don't beat any of the Pro drivers and am still 2.7 seconds slower than Shawn on index and 1.6 seconds slower than Jeff and Mark in the GT500, which seems about right. Shawn moves to first, Scott Gibson moves up 13 places to seventh and I move up 15 places to 11th. Dave Disney, OTOH, moves down 9 places while Paul Heathman and Jim Simmons move down 7 and 8 places respectively because of the increase in the SSM and XP indexes. 49 of the 72 competitors' places changed by two positions or less.

Yes.

My car is probably closer to being competitive in FS, other than tires, than JY's is in ESP. If PAX means anything at all, with a skilled driver like Mark, it should have been competing for first in Pro, not ninth on September 15. That implies an index of 0.8 or less with street tires, certainly not 0.83 or the STX PAX of 0.826.

Not to mention the camber plates, stiffer springs, lower ride height, etc. I think you can squeeze the 295 Hoosiers under the fenders of my car with the 9 inch rims that come with the Brembo package, which I don't have. Of course you have the boat anchor cast iron 5.4L block, which is a lot heavier than the 5.0 engine. That's why the 2010 GT500 is in ESP and the 2011+ GT500's are going to be in ASP.

Indeed. Look at the 2013 National results for ESP. See any 2010 GT500's? I didn't.
