I have always had end play in my truck's axles because it's a c-clip style carrier. It wasn't bad, but it was enough to freak me and Walter out until Kristo said some expletives about how they all clunk around like that. BUT, I have a new Truetrac helical diff in the S-10 now (and it is the coolest diff ever made and should be in every car). The problem is that now my end play is doubled and it's kinda loud and annoying and we couldn't figure out why it was so bad with the new diff, but I finally figured it out! The old diff had a center diff pin going through the carrier and held stationary and separated the axles isolating the end play of the left and right axles. But now there is no pin, it's only a spacer like in the picture shown here http://www.superchevy.com/technical/eng ... to_18.html. So the end play amounts are added up because the spacer slides and the play in each end isn't isolated anymore.
Too Long:Didn't Read? = My axles make noise, now I know why, nothing is broken/worn/going to fall out. I just need to figure out how to get a longer spacer so Walter won't make fun of me in tech
